About ChargeHitch

EV towing works. Finding a charger that fits your rig is the hard part.

ChargeHitch is the community map for drivers who pull a trailer. We catalog the one thing the big charging apps don't measure: whether you can physically use the site without unhitching — and whether you're allowed to in the first place.

Our mission

Every EV-tow driver learns the same lessons in the same parking lots: the 350-kW cabinet you can't reach, the pull-through that turned out to be a curbed island, the campground pedestal you weren't actually allowed to use.

That information already exists — it's just locked inside the head of whoever showed up before you. ChargeHitch is the shared place for it. One honest report, one approach photo, one well-placed "don't bother" saves the next driver an hour they would have spent in 100-degree heat.

We are not a charging network, an operator, or an advertiser. We don't take money from sites to be listed or to look better. Everything you see was added by a driver and reviewed by a moderator.

How it works

1. Find a stop

Use the map to filter by trailer access, EV policy, connector type, and rig length. Each pin has the data you need before you commit.

2. Read real reports

Every station shows reports from drivers who actually pulled in. Rig description, what worked, what didn't, what they'd do next time.

3. Contribute back

Add a missing stop. Upload an approach photo. Leave a report after your visit. Flag a listing that's wrong or out of date.

How we keep the data honest

Human moderation

Every new station and photo is reviewed by a moderator before it's visible to the public. We use automated checks to flag spam, but a person makes the call.

Community flagging

Anyone signed in can flag a listing, report, or photo as inaccurate. Flags route directly to the moderation queue.

No paid placement

Operators can't pay to be listed, rank higher, or hide negative reports. The map shows what drivers say, full stop.

Verified dates

Every listing shows when it was last verified. If a stop hasn't been confirmed in 90 days, we treat the data as a strong hint, not a guarantee.

FAQ

Is ChargeHitch free to use?: Yes. Browsing the map, reading reports, and viewing station pages is free and requires no account. You'll need a free account to submit stops, leave reports, upload photos, or flag content.
Do I have to sign up to find a stop?: No. Anyone can use the map. Sign-up is only required for contributing.
How is this different from PlugShare or A Better Routeplanner?: Those apps are great at the question "is there a charger here, and does it work?" We answer a different question: "can I get into this site with 30 feet behind me, and am I allowed to charge once I'm there?" Use both.
Who runs ChargeHitch?: A small team of EV-tow drivers. Moderation, infrastructure, and roadmap are all handled by people who use the site themselves.
How do I report bad data?: On any station, report, or photo there's a flag option. Flags go straight to the moderation queue and are usually resolved within a few days.
Can I delete a report or station I submitted?: Email the team or use the in-app flag on your own content with a removal request. Moderators handle deletes manually to keep the audit trail clean.
